Oz Vessalius, heir to one of the duke houses, has just turned fifteen. His life is rich and carefree, darkened only by the constant absence of his father. At his coming-of-age ceremony, however, everything changes. For no reason that he can discern, he's cast into the prison known as the "Abyss", only to be saved by a "chain" known as Alice, the bloodstained black rabbit. The mystery there begins as Oz unravels the mystery behind Alice, the Abyss and the strange organization known as Pandora.

The series features heavy references to Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland" and can be considered both fantasy and mystery.

Kamuinoyume's Pandora Hearts Tv Review

As a stand-alone, the ending of the Anime leaves much to be desired, since it feels rushed and doesn't resolve any of the major issues and questions asked throughout the show, but rather leaves you with more doubts, and I would even dare to call it bad character development and the events that transpire leave an abysmal glaring plot-hole in the story as well. So I give you a hearty recommendation to ignore the ending and read the Manga, because, sadly the Anime stopped right when the most interesting part of the Manga starts, and anything that you've seen in the Anime before now will be completely blown out of the water by the next arcs.

As a Manga adaptation: it's pretty faithful to the source material.

I honestly have to say: I HATE the ending! Why do all of my Fav charas have to die???! First of all Break! (I completly stopped reading the manga for a 1 1/2 years after his death) and now at the ending echo died and last but not least Vincent too!?! That's unfair! I thought there would be a happy ending for Ada and Vincent BUT NO!!

It was a very entertaining anime. But the ending wasnt exiting. If you are looking for a well developed story this is not it.Ever the less the anime was good, with some extremely funny episodes.I enjoyed it in the overall but I was wishing more out of it. They should have stick more with the manga plot or make more episodes!

I love Lacie melodies in this anime. so relaxing...
The story is about Master n their Chain. Chains here are some kind of knights (not really). To have Chain someone should make a contract with it. The ending looks rushed because its ended before the manga. The stories contain mystery, humor, angst, friendship, a bit horror and romance.

Pandora Hearts was my first manga and my first anime too.
The story is complicate [And I love that!], dark, mysterious, original, characters nice and graphics just wonderful!
Negative point : Sometimes, the story is overly complicate x)
I just have one thing to add : Watch it! ;3

So yeah, I do have quite a few grievances with the amount of detail & attention that was Not put into the anime series, & those last three episodes most definitely have NEVER existed, yet I'd give the series a high rating without a moment's hesitation; it is Pandora Hearts after all.. & if the story isn't amazing enough we have a fantastic soundtrack courtesy of Yuki Kajiura, so it's only natural that I'd be wanting for not much more than that.. supposedly, that is.
This 'not much' is simply more PH episodes. The story covered in the series was only an introduction to the world of PH & some of its characters. While the directions it has been taking after that only Jun Mochizuki can answer for, so it's worth while to go through the trouble of producing new episodes for the series, & unlike those three none-existent harebrained episodes, these new ones would be worth every dime put into them & then some.
Some parties better be working out a deal so that the we-know-anime-what-is-'mango' majority won't be missing out on the best of PH.

I don’t give 10 to this because I don’t like the anime, but it’s a pity ‘cause I just adore the manga. It has everything: friendship, love, obsession, madness, loyalty, betrayal, insanity, sadism… sometimes it’s sweet and melancholic, some others twisted and wicked. I read it in few days ‘cause I was swallowed in Wonderland! Although many ideas are taken from the beautiful tale by Lewis Carroll (especially some of the characters and their names), the story is original and engaging, unpredictable and full of twists. Nothing is as it seems… I think it’s the first manga in which I found not even a character to hate: maybe ‘cause they’re all wonderfully characterized and all their action are shown the reasons behind; also because even the bad guys are not totally evil, they’re just so mad! I can’t even blame that psycho, Vincent! On the contrary, he’s one of my favorite characters, along with Elliot and Break (I love how he pops out of nowhere and irritates everybody!!). Even the female characters are not useless, whining and silly as often. Just stunning. As for the anime… the only thing I liked was the ost.

OSWALD BASKERVILLE: "I think of Jack Vessalius rather like water. Like water’s still surface, so very clear that even fish cannot thrive within it. Even if you look hard within it, you will only see yourself reflected. He should be right in front of your eyes… but instead, there is only an unsettling feeling of nothing being there at all."

I like Alice and the opening song However it is similar to Alice in Wonderland, good one to watch!
it interested me when I heard that the anime is similar to''Alice in Wonderland'' somehow
so I watched the anime and totally loved it! one of my fav animes
so I read the manga as well....to be honest it is better than the anime
I really hope there will be another season of this anime D:

The style is rather similar to that of Black Butler, though the mood is not as dark. And I must say, the clothes in Black Butler are more beautiful, though admittedly I think the characters in Pandora Hearts are cuter :P
The characters are very interesting. I just love the allusion to Alice in Wonderland. Their background stories are quite detailed and I find myself sympathising and admiring Oz Vessalius a great deal for his optimistic personality even after what he has been through. And Alice is simply CUTE~ But I find her background story particularly underdeveloped. I kept waiting for the explanation for Jack Vessalius's presence in her memory but it never came.
Plot-wise, I think Pandora Hearts is another typical anime that leaves many loose ends untied. Many things went unexplained. Or perhaps they are going to make another season? If that is the case and if they do a great job with that, I will certainly be a lot more generous with the score I give to this series. :)

I began this series by reading the manga, I always enjoy reading better than watching the anime. I have not watched the anime of this series yet. The manga itself has an interesting plot along with enjoyable characters. I stopped reading this manga for some reason, I need to continue. The art is done well with cute looking characters.

The setting and the Story plot of this anime was a win for me. with the feeling of 19th Century England, and the Beautiful clothes that they wore incorporated into this anime and manga was very inspiring to watch and read.

The stroy is really cool, but the anime hasn't got a real end and this thing disappointed me a lot :(
I hope to have the oppurtunity to read the manga as soon as I can, because the characters and the backgroudn story is really engaging!

I think I love this series to the point of blindness. The anime got me into the series, but the MANGA. lud. that is a piece of work like no other. It's beautiful, mysterious, intriguing, and -diesfromtheawesome- As I said: to the point of blindness.
and Yuki Kajiura as the composer = win

I don't know why but the story gives off an alice-in-wonderland-feeling (probably the names). Can be quite creepy at times but that makes it so loveable, for me ;). Has action, drama and a lot of mysteries plus crazy characters. I couldn't reconcile with the end but I hope for a 2nd Season. The manga is still ongoing and there are still many secrets to uncover.

Although the end is some strange, and I didn't understand it very well @.@ I love it. I like Alice, because sometimes I have her personality (but fortunately not often) ^ ^. I like Break too, and Cheshire! I'm reading the manga now
